Château Les Granges de Civrac is located at the northernmost end of the Médoc, just before the Gironde estuary, 70 km north of Bordeaux. Founded in the 17th century, the Château was taken over by Jean-Paul and Brigitte Roland in 1973. The vineyards are spread over two vineyards with calcareous clay soils in the municipalities of Civrac-en-Médoc and Saint-Christoly de Médoc. In 2000 the wine cellar was completely modernized in order to ensure the consistently high quality of the Château Les Grandes de Civrac.
The vines stand on 30 hectares of vineyards with layers of gravel and calcareous clay soils and have an average age of 20 years. Traditional winemaking in stainless steel vats. Matured in barrels of which 25% new wood for around 14 months
Tasting: Deep ruby colour, with hints of purple. an expressive bouquet of cherry and almond paste, with bold notes of spice (white pepper), smoke, and liquorice. Fresh, juicy attack with red and black currant. The tannins are dark and tight. a persistent finish, with notes of bitter cocoa and orange blossom
