Acquired in 1975 by the Miailhe family, whose winemaking history dates back to the mid 19th Century, Verdignan's impressive Chateau stands out in the landscape of the Médoc surrounded by over 40 hectares of estate vineyard. Much like in the neighbouring St-Estèphe, the village of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne benefits greatly from the influence of the Gironde Estuary. This wine is a fantastic example of the 2005 vintage, considered to be one of Bordeaux's finest years.

Dark in color, with lots of blackberry, mineral, licorice and a hint of toasty oak. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Balanced and generous, with lots of fruit underneath. Best after 2011. (JS)

Lifted cassis and hedgerow fruits. Harmonious balance between ripe, dark fruit, integrated oak, and chewy tannins. Attractive.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate RP87-88
A consistently well-made cru bourgeois, this wine exhibits a deep ruby color and a nice, earthy nose with hints of burning embers intermixed with black fruits, herbs, and spice. The wine displays moderate tannin, medium body, good length and ripeness.
