Chateau Falfas is situated on one of the most beautiful hillsides on the right bank of the Gironde, in the commune of Bayon. It has been known as the “glory of the Bourgeais” Since the 14th Century.
This is the flagship label at the estate. A blend of all the varieties grown on the estate with the majority comprised of merlot, it is raised in barrique, 1/3 of which are new, for up to 14 months
Tasting Note: The 2016 Falfas smells as elegant as juicy and cool. It is characterised by blackcurrants, a little elderberry and sour cherries, but also by tobacco and a little undergrowth. The currants bring their stalks, the sour cherries a little bit of their cherry stones, so that the fruit combines with a breath of vegetal but ripe notes as well as earthy-pitted notes. On the palate the Falfas juicy, dark fruity and decidedly silky. It combines the pithy dark fruit with its typical punchy acidity, which surprises you again and again on the palate, because it provides additional drinking flow. The tannin is fine-grained and fits the Bordeaux like a tailor-made velvet glove. Falfas has again created an excellent balance of fruit and freshness, minerality and elegance.
